So if you each received $600. a mo. then your brother would now receive $1200. a month.

Re: Social Security benefits for children if a parent dies

Im 17 soon to be 18 in a few weeks. The child hot taken away due to the mother and new boyfriend almost beating her to death.... The mother and new BF are in jail for a long time and she signed her rights away. The biological father recently signed his rights away. The child is finally in the care of family members, unfortunately the biological father committed suicide this past Sunday, will the child still get any kind of death benefits or anything, the child also has not been adopted by anyone at this point.... Thanks in advance.... Just trying to help my friend.... I raised our 3 children without any of his help financially or physically our youngest child will be 21 in 3 months. My ex past away 2 years ago, he was an alcoholic and received SSDI the for the last year he lived. He owed a back pay of child support of 45K. Can his SSDI pay the back pay of the remaining 45K child support that was court ordered?

Re: Social Security benefits for children if a parent dies

my grandchildren draw survivor benefits from my daughter who passed away in 2009. will they be able to continue drawing the benefits if they continue on to college? also if one of them gets a ged and is not in high school should her dad still be getting the survivor benefit check. He has 3 small children. He passed away suddenly in March 2017. I would like to know what benefits the children are intitled to, if any through the Social Security System and what these benefits are called. Because the father was disabled for quite awhile he does not have much of a work history so was unable to collect SSDI> Please Help answer this question. This young family needs assistance and are having such a difficult time without the father here to help.
