I received a letter saying I can add them on but I thought they should have automatically added on especially since they're already listed. Do I have to go through all of the signing them up when they're already on file?

Re: Disabled? If they find out you were never properly closed out they can attempt to retro your children to your onset date. Best of luck! Also, the process was super fast as far as getting their benefits. It took about 10 days from the date of the application to get their back pay and their 1st monthly check is due the 2nd Wednesday of March.

Re: Disabled? I've been receiving SSDI for 2 years now, and have 2 dependent 14 year olds. Nobody EVER told me about the benefits for my children...I just found out. Are they entitled to "back pay", if so, for how long?

Re: Disabled? '11. Anyways, my issue is that I just found out about Dependents Auxiliary Benefits this past Sunday. yeah i know... I had my child's info in my original application and updated my second child's info by the time i was awarded SSDI, so by that time i had both kids. I went to SSA to finally apply, and was seeking back pay for my first born because he was listed when i originally applied, the lady said that they would both only get 12mo retro. Because, I was sent a close out letter back in Feb '14. Ive done some research and located that letter, but i do not think it meets the definition of a close out letter. my son's name and information is not on the letter, nor a 6 month deadline. Do you think i have a chance at winning an appeal? Do you have an example letter of a close out letter for auxiliary benefits?

Re: Disabled? Not to say that someone isn't going to be willing to take your money to try.

I have no idea how easy or difficult the process will be. I only said re-establish because it may not be necessary to start from square one.

There are "senior care" and "elder care" advisors (same thing going by different terms) that work with nursing homes / independent living facilities (but the advisors are often independent). They know the ins and out and in my opinion may be in the best position to get your mom established in the new state.

You may be able to get some names by calling local assisted / skilled nursing facilities or googling for your local Estate Planning Council and asking if they can recommend two or three people that can help with establishing you mom in WA.

Re: Disabled? Trust me i have been googling to no end; hence the reason I ended up on this site. I can find law firms specializing in disability benefits and contacted a couple but truth be told, they don't understand why I have a problem with just having medicaid. Would you happen to have any recommendations in Seattle area? It is interesting that you used the term (re) before establishing in your reply. I might be reading too much in to it but it tells me that the process is not as an easy transfer?

Re: Disabled? She receives SSI, medi-cal and also Medicare with zero cost to her. I would like to move her to state of Washington as I can give her better care. Aside from heading to SSA office for the change of address, do I also have to take her in to apply again for Medicaid and the QMB for Medicare or would those automatically happen at the SSA office. For me, the cost of her healthcare is way more important than SSI value.

Regards.

Re: Disabled? Only Social Security can tell you if you eligible. Contact your local office or 1-800-772-1213 (the national SSA toll-free number).

Re: Disabled? You would have to have court ordered guardianship or custody and bring to social security to apply for benefits under you and food stamp office to get them added on and get insurance if they don't already have it.

Re: Disabled? If he gets SSDI, which is disability, they can take child support. If he is on your son's birth certificate or you have proof of DNA, your son is eligible for a small portion of what his father's check is. You would have to call social security and apply. It takes about 15-20 minutes on the phone

Re: Disabled?
