"Anyone who is entitled to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or to any of the Social Security benefits at any time during Nov 2008 to Jan 2009
- Retirement Social Security benefits. - Wife's or Husband's Social Security benefits. - Disabled Adult Child benefits (but not other child's benefits). - Widow's, Widower's, Mothers, Fathers, Parents Social Security Benefits. - Disability Insurance benefit. - Special age 72 benefits.
is eligible to recieve 250 USD Social Security Stimulus Payment check. Children qualify for the 250 Social Security payment only if they are getting disabled adult child benefit."
The odd thing is this says anyone on SSI, but also says the only children's benefits to be paid are DAC benefits. Most children get Children's SSI. I assume the author means any ADULT on SSI and the only children's benefits to be paid are DAC benefits.

Confirmed through SSA. Only Disabled Adult Children are eligible for the $250 economic stimulus payment. Otherwise, children are NOT entitled to the $250 stimulus payment.
My mother received her notice about the stimulus payment - I have not received one for myself

Here is what Social Security has to say about WHEN the payments will be sent out:
"We plan to pay all eligible Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries by the end May 2009. You don't need to do anything to receive this payment. Social Security does not need to contact you to request information. Please do not contact us about your payment unless you do not receive it by June 4, 2009. The Department of the Treasury will be sending payments throughout the month of May."
So, basically, you should have the stimulus payment no later than June 4, 2009.

I was just asked if a person is eligible for the stimulus payment if they were just approved for benefits in May, BUT, they will get back benefits.
*** Question: Who will receive a one-time economic recovery payment from Social Security?
Answer: Nearly 55 million Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries will receive a one-time payment of $250 each. To receive a payment, the beneficiary's address of record must be in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, or the Northern Mariana Islands. Individuals who were not eligible for Social Security, SSI, Veterans, or Railroad Retirement benefits at any time during the months of November 2008, December 2008, or January 2009 are not eligible for the one-time payment. ***
Unfortunately, SSA answers who is NOT eligible, rather that who IS eligible.
Working backwards, the FAQ suggests that you had to be eligible for one of the SSA benefits programs, described above, AT ANY TIME between the months of November 2008 through January 2009 to be eligible for the $250 stimulus payment.
05/21/09 UPDATE: I just read in the NOSSCR Forum that the legislation behind the $250 stimulus, allows for payments to be made until December 31, 2010. This suggests that if may be possible to still receive the $250 payment if are later awarded Social Security retroactive benefits covering either November 2008, December 2008 or January 2009. That is, so long as it is still before December 31, 2010.

I have still not received my stimulus, and I am wondering if perhaps my old student loan company has taken the money. How do I find this out? I could truly use the funds and am starting to worry.

Hi Lainey,
I am sorry you are still waiting for the economic stimulus payment.
Q: If I don't receive my one-time economic recovery payment by the first week of June, what should I do?
A: After June 4, 2009, you can call our toll-free number, 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) or contact your local Social Security office to tell us your payment has not arrived. Please wait until then to ask about your payment because the Department of the Treasury will be sending payments until the end of May.
I hope that helps!

What a crock! It has taken SSA five months (and $93 million) to implement a simple payment program that should have taken no more than a few hours (and dollars), and they are still speaking doublespeak: According to the SSA director, all direct-deposit payments went out on the 7th, and checks will be sent out in four groups during the month. But another press release says that we will be paid on the Monday following our regular payment Wednesday. And another tells yet another story. And all the stories are false. And checks are going out to dead people. And then, even though our payment was supposed to have been made on May 7th, we are told to wait until June 4th before making inquiries! Why all the double-talk?
Oh, that's right. SSA is staffed with affirmative action employees and foreigners and self-serving bureaucrats trying to justify receiving a salary for doing nothing, while not serving those they are commissioned to serve.
