It wasn't until 2000 until when talking with a fellow vet that my erratic behavior may be PTSD. After talking with him, I contacted my VA rep, went through extensive testing with the VA and they informed me that I had an anxiety disorder/PTSD, for which I have been taking medication for the last 10 years! Three marriages, countless jobs and relationship problems, in general. In 2001 the VA acknowledged the fact that I have PTSD and gave me a disability rating of 10%, which my VA rep that I now have keeps telling me was a slap on the hand! Plus since then, I've learned that I had a number of other service connected disabilities that have never been acknowledged!!!

Re: Veterans Sue Federal Government Over Lack of PTSD Disability Benefits

i was discharged at 20% my ptsd the army daowngraded to an anxiaty disorder they did not rate my hearing loss or tinitus even though the army issued me hearing aids. i had 17+ years in and was tossed aside with no regards to the Armys promis of taking care of us. i was given the setlement even though i said do not give to me so i was taxed on it and forced to pay all of it back in order to recieve my VA benifits... thanks Army
